I was talking with a friend who was beginner to transition from Project Management to Web Development. I started to talk about all the great resources that were out there to level up when you are starting out. Here is a list of my favorite resources – Take a look!

1. Learn to Code With Me

Great Blog and Podcast for those of us just starting out. I made me feel more reassured that I could sucessfully transition after hearing so many stories similar to mine.

2. Your Website Engineer

My favorite WordPress podcast, because there are so many 20 minute snippets that talk in detail about the common challenges folks experience when starting on WordPress. A lot of great suggestions and examples that made me a better WordPress developer.

3. WP Beginner

I described this to someone as a lifesaver for any WordPress questions or issues you come across. If you can’t get over the hump with WP Beginner, well see number 4.

4. CodeMentor.io

I turned to CodeMentor.io because the ability to talk through a concept, issue, or error with highly skilled developers in 15 minute segments is SO VALUABLE. I had a JS issue that I spent 4 hours one saturday morning working through… 15 minutes on CodeMentor and it was fixed. Consider this when you come across things that require you to level up and you don’t have the time.

5. Bootstrap

Familiarity with Bootstrap CSS and JS opened a lot of doors and made me very efficient. Sharing common classes and utilities across multiple projects meant less time writing custom CSS.
